Direct characterization usually can be indicated by the tone of particular excerpt. I am pretty sure that the only nice example of direct characterization is the first sentence, just because you can see basic description of a person without reading between the lines and recognizing things like allusion or references so that you can immediately imagine how this person looks like.
Answer: A) Frank was a very tall man, and managed to immediately intimidate most people he met and B) The door opened and in came ridiculous Reginald, as dapper and debonair as ever.
