The historical development of trade unions since 1970 depends on what country you are talking about. There were different conditions in every country. For example Ex-Soviet countries changed very rapidly since 1970.

I assumed you mean the historical development of trade unions since 1970 in South Africa. My assumption was based on the fact that some of the questions you asked on brainly were mostly centered on South Africa.

Further Explanation

In 1970s, the first modern trade union movement was established in South Africa. Many organizations which were set up initially as advice centers increases and these advice centers came together to form trade unions.

The trade unions embarked on a series of strike in 1973 in Durban and by 1976 new trade unions were registered making a total of 173 trade unions nationwide. Majority of the trade union were led by Coloured, white and Indian races. The problem of labor during this period was very complicated that the trade unions embark on strike often.

And by 1974, the government devised a mechanism to check increasing labour problems by establishing an independent commission. The commission was headed by Professor Nic Wiehahn.  Professor Nic Wiehahn embarked on a series of reforms to address the lingering problem facing the labour and these led to the amendment of the labour relation ACT in 1979.

The amendment resulted to the creation of industrial court and the commission also came up with different approach to addresses unfair labour practices. The amendment also gave the black trade union the freedom to organize.

After the amendment, trade unions began to involve in politics. Different political tradition emerged in labor movement with different views on political issues.
