After WW2 had ended most of japans cities were destroyed, in those cities that were destroyed were industrial industries that helped japan during WW2 so trying to produce things were hard for them. On top of that is radiation from the atomic bombs and food shortage, these problems that faced japan made it was hard for the country to rebuild it self.
