Dependent and Independent variables? I am plotting points on a scatterplot and I'm not sure where to place my variables. The number of confirmed cases of corona virus and the number of deaths from the virus. Which variable is which?​

The number of deaths is the dependent variable.

Why?

The number of deaths is dependent on the fact that there are cases, so the number of deaths is a dependent variable.
