This was for the obvious reason that Europe in general was not racist and welcomed Afro american artists. Counting 50 years from the sixties we can safely conclude that the racial climate has improved for Afro americans in the U.S. although not quite for Mexicans.

From the civil rights act of 1964 on, the nation gradually started, ever so slowly, to become a truly multicultural society. Although it must be said that the fatal incidents between white cops and black people still continue to this very day.

What we now see is that the former race division is changing into a class division, which might be even worse...
