Question: What do you think the different parts of Omelas (setting, townspeople, flute player, etc) represent?
How do these reveal the meaning and theme of the story?

Respuesta :

This is from the story 'One who walks away from Omelas'.

Explanation:

  • The child represents injustice and inhumanity. The setting is believed to be Utopia. The idyllic setting of the sea, the exuberant summer festivals and the activities may show it as a perfect society. But it is not.
  • The child represents people without privilege in the society. The flute players are the people who have all the privilege and enjoy life.
  • The flute maker is making beautiful music that is attactive but the people move away from him.
