Using the distributive property:

20(2x−4)=10(2x)
40x−80=20x
x=4
remember that you can do anything to an equation as long as you do it to both sides

also
x times 1/x=1 becasue x/x=1

try to get rid of fractions

notice we have
somethng/10 =something/20
if we times both sides by 20 we clear the 20 fraction, and double the left fraction

(2x-4)/10=(2x)/20
times both sides by 20
[tex] \frac{(20)(2x-4)}{10} = \frac{(20)(2x)}{20} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{(2)(10)(2x-4)}{10} = 2x\frac{(20)}{20} [/tex]
[tex] (2)(2x-4)\frac{10}{10} = 2x [/tex]
2(2x-4)=2x
distribute
4x-8=2x
minus 2x both sides
2x-8=0
add 8
2x=8
divide 2
x=4
distribute
