Europeans' belief in their cultural superiority helped them justify imperialistic actions because they thought spreading European culture to other nations helped the less advanced.
I think this relates to Social Darwinism. In that case, they justified their actions because they believed that the people who lived in Africa and Asia etc were less evolved and less human, therefore, they thought that they were doing what was best for humanity by improving the human race and making everyone "more evolved like Europeans are"
