One day I was on the side of the street and a man needed some cash for some food, I had a little extra cashed saved over, so I proceeded to hand him a tip. He politely thanked me and shook my hand. I went on for the rest of my day feeling great, I made someone's day, I helped them. My friends and family always describe me as a very outgoing, nice, helping character. And I felt like that day really showed.
When I went home I told my mother and the look on her face was spectacular, she was so surprised. She was smiling, and she even gave me a treat after. Later that evening I decided to visit the man with my mom, and he was so happy to see me again, I gave him a hug. It was a great day and we even took him out for dinner, and to see a movie. I guess i'm a pretty nice person after all!
I remember this period when I was on my way home after class and i was stressed out, hungry and needed to eat. Suddenly, one guy accosted me, a stranger actually and begged me for something to eat.
He was not a bum or anything, he was also a student and I handed out the money I had on me for a meal to him because he looked really hungry.
I did not have enough on me, and i was moved that he asked for help, instead of stealing from others and I walked home hungry, but happy. Happy that i had helped someone get a meal, even though it cost me mine. It takes nothing to be kind or compassionate to one another.
