In 1763, Chief Pontiac goes on a raid to attack all white settlers because they kept on settling on their land. This event, known as Pontiac's Rebellion, scared England and resulted in the establishment of the Proclamation Line. Around the time of the War of 1812, Tecumseh and his brother, the Prophet, formed a federation between Native American tribes. This was like an act of retaliation against American expansion. They were supplied with weaponry and bribed with money by the English to kill the white settlers.

So basically, the Native Americans were not on friendly terms with American expansion.
