The Berlin blockade was intended to bring US, Great Britain and France, under the control of the Soviet Union.
This was an attempt in 1948 during political tensions between the Soviet Union and its former allies in WWII to control the airspace available to the US, Great Britain, and France with which they could travel to their sectors in Berlin.
The Western powers responded with what was called the Berlin Airlift. This became known as the first critical crisis of the Cold War.
