This is also called as life-derived sediment. These sediments are formed form the skeletal remains of the animals and plants that lived in the past. Siliceous oozes are made up of opal  that is an amorphous, hydrated silica that forms the most skeleton of various micro-organisms where as carbonate oozes contains mostly of calcium carbonate that is present deep inside the sea.
