There are two types of energy-- kinetic and potential energy. Energy in motion is called kinetic energy, whereas energy stored in an object is called potential energy.
Energy that is stored in moving objects. As objects move faster more energy is stored. It is the sum of potential and kinetic energy in an object that is used to work.
