I think the reason for this community not to include any form of communication, it's because it is a city around 3500 years of age and maybe they didn't count on enough tools or technology for them to do this. The art during the Jomon period shows no written language. There were also no signs of spoken language through pictures or any signs of verbal communication. I think that they may have communicated through pictures and drawings.
