Explanation:
As the earth rotates on its own axis, the part of the earth facing the sun will be daylight we the part facing away from the sun will be night. This changes as the earth rotate and the part that was night will become daylight and the part than was daylight will become night. This rotation of the earth takes 24 hrs for a complete cycle. Humans developed imaginary lines called latitudes that divide the earth into time zones to keep up with the earth’s rotation.
Even though the combined hours of daylight and night in a day are 24hrs, the inequality in the number of hours shared between day and night in different regions (by latitude) is due to the tilt of the earth.
