The somatic cell of an individual has a diploid number of 16. What’s the chromatid number of the cell during metaphase? Isn’t it 32?

Respuesta :

Answer:

Meiotic products of the somatic cell have 20 picograms of DNA it means haploid cell content is 20 picograms.

Thus the somatic cell is diploid in nature so it will contain 40 picograms of DNA. G2 phase of cell cycle comes after the S phase so in the S phase the amount of DNA gets doubles(because of DNA replication).

Thus the somatic cell will contains 40X2=80 picogram of DNA.
