Let no. of sheeps and goats be x and y respectively;

In essence;

  • x = 5y........eqn(1) and

  • x = y + 40......eqn(2)

By substituting 5y for x in eqn(2); we have;

  • 5y = y + 40.

  • 4y = 40

y = 10.

  • x = 5(10)

x = 50.
