Part 1: Post a Response There are many practical applications of biological knowledge that we mostly accept and take for granted. Many (though not all) modern techniques in medicine, agriculture and sanitation are examples of widely accepted practices. However, our knowledge about biology has enabled us to do things that raise ethical and social issues. Cloning is one example of such a technology, but there are many others. Choose one such example, then: Describe the technology. Describe the ethical and social issues that are raised by the issue, and how you think that society should proceed.

GM foods are prepared by the method of genetic engineering or recombine DNA technology. By this technology, foods are produced which have foreign gene inserted into their genome. For example, golden rice is a GM food which comprises of enhanced levels of Vitamin A through this technology.

The social and ethical debates over the usage of GM foods is never ending. Although, some GM foods have been approved by FDA and are being seen in the market, yet still controversies arise on these types of food. Critics claim that the trial experiments of these products do not produce satisfactory results or they criticize about how these GM crops could takeover the wild-life leaving reduced genetic variance in the future.

GM foods and the wild life variety should go hand in hand. GM food can be the next generation food to treat malnutrition yet still the scientists should try their best that wild life does not get affected by it.
