Respuesta :

A mid-oceanic ridge is a place on the earth that is known as divergent boundary and is the place for the upwelling of magma.

  • The presence of reverse magnetic polarity found in the opposite sides that is south and northern parts of the ridges is due to the magnetic properties of the magma which get aligned to the earths magnetic fields.
  • As magma has positively and negatively charged ions. It attained magnetic properties. This seafloor spreading occurs in the Atlantic ocean. The youngest seafloor can be found near the mid-ocean ridge. As older rocks tend to be found away from the seafloor.
  • The oldest seafloor is found away from the mid-ocean ridges such as near the Mediterranean sea. While the youngest is in the middle of seafloor.

Hence the reverse polarities and old and new sea floors are found in association to the spreading of magma in the opposite direction of the ridges.
