By this quote he was trying to tell that the issue of peace is everyone’s concern.  It is their duty to help others if they expect the same kind of help in the future.

Answer:

Wilson's speech showed that the US was not going to do nothing while the war was going on. We saw that we needed to do something because something could of happened to us if we didn't. It was an eye opening experience for us.
