Answer: Santiago and Fatimah demonstrated the power of love for each other and life when Fatimah impelled Santiago to accomplish his personal legend.
Right from the beginning of the story, the author—Paulo Coelho, presents the story of a young boy, Santiago, in search of his personal legend. Personal legend is a term used to mean what he has always wanted to accomplish. It has been foretold by a fortune teller that he will find this fortune in the pyramids. And so, he began a journey into the pyramids.
During the journey, Santiago finds himself being robbed twice. Once, at the time a man claimed to be able to convey him to the pyramid where Santiago expected to find his fortune. The second time, when he saw an English man before he met Fatimah.
Despite this, he refused to give up and shortly met an Alchemist who made reference to his personal legend he is in search of.
After this, Santiago continued in his quest to get his fortune or personal legend and coincidentally met an Arabian girl whom he fell in love with, almost forgetting his dream. The girl responded to his proposal by telling him that he must get his personal legend first before she agrees to marry him. Immediately heremembers the advice of an old alchemist that any love that deviated him from his personal legend is not true love.
By doing this, Fatimah forces Santiago into achieving what he has always wanted to achieve—personal legend thereby bringing a love life of fulfillment to one and other.
