The Elorde family has just immigrated to the United States from the Philippines. The mother and father want their two children to grow up appreciating their Filipino heritage, but worry that a strong ethnic identity may not be good for their kids. What advice would you give Mr. and Mrs. Elorde about the impact of ethnic identity on children’s development?

Respuesta :

An ethnicity or ethnic group is a human community defined by linguistic and cultural affinities. Thus it is necessary for parents and family members to pass on this class awareness to their children so that they can develop a good identity.  So, Mr. and Mrs. Elorde, can start with that.

If this ethnic identity is well developed in childhood, chances are good that this child will become a teenager with good self esteem, and pride in his or her ethical identity will help him or her develop better with others, respecting their ethnic culture.
