Reasons why the people start to move out of Sahara and settle in the Sahel were the climate, resources, trade, large rivers...

Explanation:

The Sahel is a west to east stretching area located between the Sahara on its north and the savanna and tropical forests on its south. Even though it is not the best of regions, when compared to the Sahara Desert it has advantages in every department. The climate is semi-arid in the Sahel, unlike the arid one on the Sahara. The region had huge potential for development as it was right on the trade routes between Northern Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, so it was offering lot of opportunities.

  • The Sahel was a region relatively abundant in some resources, which meant that people had materials or goods for trade.
  • The large rivers, such as the Niger River, enabled easy movement of the people, but also easy transportation of goods over large areas.
  • The large rivers too provided water for drinking, for irrigation, and large fertile deposits on their banks, so the the agriculture was thriving in the region.
