Let X = 0.99999....

Because there is only 1 repeating number multiply by 10.

Multiply with 10:

10x = 10 x 0.999

Simplify:

10x = 9.999

Subtract x:

10x - x = 9.999 - 0.999

9x = 9

Divide both sides by 9:

x = 9/9

X = 1

so 0.99999.... = 1
