1. Was Andrew Jackson a great president? Opinions are mixed. What is yours? Consider the words that Jackson biographer James Parton wrote in 1859: "Andrew Jackson, I am given to understand, was a patriot and a traitor. He was one of the greatest of generals, and wholly ignorant of the art of war... He was the most candid of men, and was capable of the profoundest dissimulation... A democratic autocrat [dictator]. An urbane [sophisticated] savage. An atrocious [awful] saint."

Respuesta :

Answer: I would say "Yes"

Explanation:

Jackson become a hero for defeating the British Army at New Orleans, that is what made him such a good president, he was also a general for the United States Army and then In January of 1832, while the President was dining with friends at the White House, someone whispered to him that the Senate had rejected the nomination of Martin Van Buren as Minister to England. Jackson jumped to his feet and exclaimed, “By the Eternal! I’ll smash them!” So he did. His favorite, Van Buren, became Vice President, and succeeded to the Presidency when “Old Hickory” retired to the Hermitage, where he died in June 1845.

According to my personal opinion, Andrew Jackson was neither a good nor a bad President. Andrew Jackson was indeed a President who had good leadership skills.

Despite having good leadership skills and qualities,  Andrew Jackson did not put his intellect and resources to good effect, resulting in a disharmony situation in the United States of America.
