Answer:

680 – 700 nm

Visible light spans between 400nm and 700nm, in wavelength, of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Explanation

It is the reason that the reaction centers of the photosystems in the chlorophyll molecules are named p680 and p700, because they absorb, best, light wavelengths of between 680nm and 700 nm. This is the red spectrum of visible light. The pigment also absorbs light in the blue spectrum at 400 – 450 nm. This is why leaves appear green in color because they do not absorb this spectrum of light.

The energy from these photons of light is captured by the pigment and used to split a water molecule into 2 H+ and O-. The electrons released from this split (called photolysis reaction) are used to replace the electrons in the reactive center of the photosystems. These electrons are passed down an electron transport chain that harnesses their energy to pump H+ ions from the stroma into the lamellae. This will create a proton motive force across the membrane. This energy potential is then used by ATP synthase to create ATPs.
