Marla investigates the properties of an unknown, clear liquid that she thinks is water. She lowers the temperature of the liquid to the freezing point of water. The liquid does not become solid. Marla is still convinced the unknown liquid is water. She wonders if the water may have salt in it. How would salt in the water explain her result?
A. Salt causes the water to evaporate.
B. Salt dissolves in water to help it become a solid.
C. Salt lowers the freezing point of water.
D. Salt raises the temperature of the water.
C salt lowers the freezing point of water. I am not 100% sure how this works but I know you can put ice an water to cool sodas fast, or even make ice cream. And besides, the other answers don’t make sense.
