Cindy buys a party sandwich that is 5 feet long. Her brother cuts off a piece of the sandwich that is 3/4 foot long. Cindy wants to cut the remaining sandwich into 17 equal pieces to share. How long will each piece be?

Brother's piece: -0.75 or -3/4 ft

Remaining:
5 - 0.75 = 4.25 ft

17 equal pieces of the remaining sandwich:
4.25 / 17 = 0.25 ft

Each remaining piece would be 0.25 ft or 1/4 ft
