  • Domain is a globular region in protein which form a basic unit of tertiary structure.
  • Protein domain is a conserved part of protein sequence which are involved in the tertiary structure.
  • Each domain form 3- dimensional structure and rest of the protein chain exist independently.

(b)

Three domains commonly found in signal transduction are:

Signal transduction is the process in which it changes several pathway of molecule in the domain.

It basically consist of binding domain and catalytic domain in the signal transduction.

1) Src homo-logy 2 : It is one of the domain in signal transduction which help in binding the phosphorylated tyrosine. It is also commonly find in protein adaptor. Its abbreviation is SH2.

2) Src homo-logy 3 : SH3 is the small protein domain and it binds residue of the hydrophobic pro-line.

3) PI domain:  This is the protein domain which binds phosphotyrosine. It is also known as phosphotyrosine binding domain (PTB).
