He asked Congress to deregulate the prize of domestic oil but despite his policies , he was beset by an energy crisis in 1979 followed by a recession .

The Iran hostage crisis existed as an international crisis (1979–81) in which militants in Iran seized 66 American citizens at the U.S. embassy in Tehran and carried 52 of them, hostage, for more than a year. The crisis took residence during the chaotic aftermath of Iran's Islamic revolution (1978–79).
The crisis about the hostages of Iran existed an unsettlement that took place between United States Government and the Iranian Government in the 1980s. Thus, during this crisis 52 American were maintained as hostages, but they were later released.
The condition that permitted Carter to become an unpopular president existed in the Iran hostage crisis, which portrayed him as a cold-hearted person and created an emphasis on his ability to restrain the crisis that was being forced on the Iranian community through Shah Pahlavi.
Carter ignored the condition of Iran by saying that everything existed fine and referred to the country as “The oasis of peace in the middle east” while innocent people existed being killed and tortured. This generated a group of Iranian students to kidnap several 52 Americans and maintained them, hostage, for 444 days, as a protest against Carter’s behavior.
