If you add together all of the forces exerted on a object and get a non zero value that is called the "NET FORCE" of the object
If you add together all of the forces acting on an object, the sum is called the NET FORCE on the object.
It might or might not be zero. If it's NOT zero, then you know immediately that the object must be accelerating ... either its speed, or its direction, or both are changing.
