Media images can help teach us about gender by showing stereotypes of what each gender should follow. For example, an advertisement showing a boy playing football and a girl playing with dolls. Although stereotypes are not always correct and box people in, media images that include them can give someone who doesn't understand gender a basic idea on what it is.
