The genocide of Darfur was one of the most recent genocides that occurred. The reasons were mostly religious ones. By order of the president of Sudan, whole group of people in the southern part of the country was marked as target and should have been eliminated. The military started doing so, and lot of people ended up dead, with many more injured and displaced. The international community was again slow to react. It did charged the president of Sudan for war crimes, but he had already made his escape plan and is still not found. The situation was put under control by military units from the international community but again too late, and after the damage was done.
