Neon cannot form compounds.
Explanation;
- Neon is an element in group VIII of the periodic table. Elements in this group have a stable configuration and thus tend to be unreactive.
- Neon being a member of group VIII has a stable configuration or what we call octet configuration, and thus can not gain or loose electrons and thus can not react with other elements to form compounds.
- Elements in Group VII include, Argon, Helium, neon, etc, they are inert and unreactive and therefore can not react with other elements to form compounds.
