The noteworthy fact about Voyager 1 is "It has travelled farther than any other space probe." Launched in 1977, it has remained operational since then, and according to NASA, it is the first space shuttle to reach interstellar space. It departed from the solar system in 2012, but was not acknowledged until 2013. It is roughly 13.2 billion miles from Earth.
It was not the firt satellite launched into space, because the Explorer 1 was launched into space by the USA on 31 January 1958, and the Soviet Union had also launched the Sputnik 1 in 1957. The Voyager 1 was launched in 1977.
The shuttle that carried Neil Armstrong to the moon in 1969 was the Apollo 11 mission.
