Brendon had total job benefits of $39,500 last year. He was required to wear a shirt with the company logo on it for work that he was responsible for buying. Brendon purchased 12 shirts for work during the year at a cost of $23.95 each. He was also required to attend a training at a cost to him of $135. What was Brendon’s total employment compensation last year?

Respuesta :

First of all, work out how much all the shirts cost together, to work this out easily, I would multiply 24 by 12 which is (240 + 48) 284. Then multiply 0.05 by 12 which is 0.60. $284- $0.60= $283.40.

Then add $283.40 to $135 which is $418.40. Finally take away $418.40 from $39,500, to get $ 39,081.60.

The correct answer is:

$39,077.60.

Explanation:

We take the total amount of Brendon's employment benefits and subtract the expenses.

Since he purchases 12 shirts at $23.95, this is $287.40 off; this gives us

39500-287.40 = 39,212.60.

He has to attend a conference that cost him $135; this gives us

39,212.60 - 135 = $39,077.60.
