1) Bay of Pigs Invasion- President John F. Kennedy responded to communism in nearby Cuba by calling for an invasion. This invasion consisted of over 1,000 Cuban exiles who came to the US for training in military strategies. Ultimately, this mission was a huge failure and did not get rid of Fidel Castro and his communist regime in Cuba.
2) Cuban Missile Crisis- When Kennedy learned that the Soviet Union was putting medium range ballistic missiles in nearby Cuba, he called for the Soviets to get rid of them immediately. This resulted in a tense 13 day standoff between the Soviet government and the US government. Ultimately the problem was solved without nuclear warfare.
3) Gave help to South Vietnam- To stop the spread of communism, Kennedy sent US military officials to give advice and training to South Vietnamese who were trying to stop communism from North Vietnam from spreading to their country.
