Ramon was studying pond life at Doyle park.
In two hours he counted 4 more frogs than turtles. The number of crayfish he counted was three more than twice the number of turtles. In total, he counted 54 turtles and crayfish. How many frogs were there?

Respuesta :

Answer:21

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Ramon counted 'x' no. of turtles,

therefore, according to the question, he counted (2x + 3) crayfish.

It is given that he counted 54 turtles and crayfish.

So, our equation becomes, x + 2x + 3 = 54

or, 3x + 3 = 54

or, 3x = 51

or x = 17

So, in the pond there were 17 turtles and 17*2 + 3 = 37 crayfishes.

But according to the question there were 4 more frogs than turtles.

So total no. of frogs were,

17 + 4 = 21

Hope it helps!!!
