To the best of my knowledge, the USA of 1900 to 1919 was not strictly a superpower. It's situation can be compared to that of China, it's economy is one of if not the biggest in the world and it has lots of resources to keep the economy going. By the end of World War 1, the US had a very powerful military, theoretically making it a superpower. In reality though, it was not, because the military was shrunk to the point of uselessness almost immediately after World War I, which is why wemanaged to lose and not Advanced much at the start of World War II.
