The advances in technology allowed the explorers to travel across sea and make conquests possible. Many innovations contributed and influenced the explorers. However, two great inventions that were made were the caravel and compass. A caravel was a small to medium sized ship that was mostly used for fishing and exploring because it’s easy to maneuver and control due to the construction of the boat. Not only was it easy to steer, it was fast too. Now the magnetic compass helped explorers on boats know which direction they are going and prevents them from being lost and reach the correct destination. Maps were inconvenient due to its unmanageable size and fragileness.
