Early Hebrews are mentioned as people in the Old Testament, descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The twelve Jacob's sons are the twelve tribes of the Jews who make up that nation in accordance with the Old Testament. During the stay and slavery in Egypt, some forms of paganism were recorded, although monotheism was consolidated upon Egypt's exodus from Egypt. The first five books of the Old Testament make up the recorded testimonies by Moses, called Torah, and form the core of the monotheistic faith of the Hebrews.
