the 13th Amendment was to abolish slavery. Many Americans did not like this idea because of many reasons.
1. Farm owners will loose their slaves resulting loosing labor work for their crops.
2. Many people in the government did not like the amendment because it was electron year, they did not want Black people to effect if they won or not.
3. Some white people could not stand the idea that black people were free and was a citizen, this is why black codes were created.
