Discussion:

Let f(x) = x^4 + x ^3 - 20 x^2

Factor x^2 from each term:

f(x) = x^2 ( x^2 + x - 20) = x^2 ( x +5) (x-4)

f = 0 when x = 0 (multiplicity 2) and x = -5 or x = 4
