Harry and Hagrid needed to get money out of Gringotts bank. The bank cart was accelerating at a rate of 4 m/s2 and it had a mass of 8,000 kg. What is the net force acting on the cart?

Answer:

We know the mass [tex]m[/tex] and the acceleration [tex]a[/tex].

If we want to know the net force [tex]F[/tex] and assuming there is not  Force of Friction, we have to use the following equation:

[tex]F=ma[/tex]   (1)

This formula is the result of Newton’s Second Law of Motion:

Where;

[tex]m=8000kg[/tex]

And

[tex]a=4\frac{m}{s^{2}}[/tex]

We have to substitute the values in (1):

[tex]F=8000kg(4\frac{m}{s^{2}})[/tex]

Finally:

[tex]F=32000N[/tex]
