Which of the following is not a correct acid-base neutralization reaction?

HI + KOH --> KI + H20

Ca(OH)2 + HCl --> CaCl + H2O

CH3COOH _ NH4OH --> NH4CH3COO + H2O

HBr _ CsOH --> CsBr + H2O

Respuesta :

Ca(OH)2  + HCl →  CaCl  + H2O   is  not a correct acid- base  neutralization reaction

    Explanation

 Acid and base react to form   salt and water.

The  reaction of Ca(OH)2 + HCl →  CaCl2 +H2O  is not  correct  because

  1.  The  formula of salt formed is incorrect. It is suppose to be CaCl2  since Ca   has a charge of 2+  while cl- has a charge   of -1. Therefore to form ionic bond 2 Cl ion are needed.
  2. The  equation  is not balanced. there  is   suppose to be 2 in front of HCl  and  in front  of H2O

Therefore the correct acid -base  neutralization  reaction  is as below

Ca(OH)2  + 2HCl→  CaCl2   + 2H2O
