In Africa, dragon color is co-dominant. The colors blue and yellow are co-dominant.

If you cross a yellow dragon with a blue/yellow dragon. What would be the phenotype ratio of their offspring ? I don't understand the co-dominant punnet squares, so please explain it so that I can do them on my own in the future :) Thank you!

A- 1 Blue and yellow: 1 yellow

B- 1 Green: 1 Yellow

C- 1 Blue: 2 Blue and Yellow: 1 Yellow

D- 3 Blue: 1 Yellow

Respuesta :

The answer is; A

Let us assign the allele for Blue dragon color as B and that of Yellow dragon color as Y and create the punnet square below;

The phenotypic ratio will, therefore, be;

1 Yellow/Blue : 1 Yellow

Answer:

Option A

Explanation:

In co-dominance,  two different traits associate with each other to produce an intermediate trait combining the characteristic of the two individual traits.

For example -

If red color flower is crossed with white color flower, then its co-dominated offspring would be oink in color.

Here -

Genotype of  yellow dragon is YY

Genoype of yellow/Blue dragon is YB

YY * YB

YY, YB, YY, YB

Out of four off spring 2 are yellow and 2 are yellow/blue

So the ration of yellow and yellow/blue offspring are

2: 2

1: 1

Hence, option A is correct
