Cairo has an excellent strategic position, especially when it comes to trade. The city is located in the northern part of Egypt, coming out on the Mediterranean Sea. Through the Mediterranean Sea, Cairo has the whole Mediterranean region open for trade, as well as being well connected with other important water bodies through it. Also, the Nile River runs through Cairo, and the river being navigable enables fro trade from the interior of the African continent toward Cairo, so Cairo is a crucial point of this trade route.
