Hope this helped!
The correct answer is "C".
African Americans started from their newly gained rights after the abolishment of slavery. However, oppression and prejudice towards remained constant through the years after the end of the war. Governments across the south implemented the "Black Codes", which limited certain African American's civil rights, such as serve on juries, testify against white whitenesses or serve in militias.
The institutionalized segregation in the south made many African Americans flee from these territories in any event in history known as "The Great Migration", which was the massive relocation of African American population in the first half of the 20th century. After disregarding the option of going to the African continent, as it was not feasible logistically, these groups moved to areas up north, to the midwest and the wet of the country in order to start new lives.
