Before the world war I, the US army and the marines (the last one, dissolute after the independence war by the Congress and reinstalled after the attack to pearl harbor, during the second world war) were modest and unprepared. Only after the attack by the Japanese of pearl harbor, US entered the second world war and their armed forces built and sent overseas, though, in the beginning, they were considered naïve and only by necessity trained, by the French army, during the occupation time of France, by the Nazis. By then, the weak arm forces of Europe received the new allied nations (US and Russia) as a reborn and thanks to their help. Finally, Hitler’s empire was destroyed, and the second WW won. US armed force becomes the hero and the cold war begun. His “friend” (URSS) turned into his major enemy for decades, which pushed them after their great victory in second WW, to strengthen their capabilities and power facing the possibility of a nuclear war against the Soviet Union. Then after war become a” good business” for Americans, and their armed forces gain vital importance to protect commercial interest all around the globe, such as Europe, middle east and oriental Asia.

Nowadays, The United States Navy is the largest in the world with a tonnage more significant than that of the next 17 armed together and has a budget of $ 127 300 million for the fiscal year 2007.

First, with the National Defense Act of 1916, Congress agreed to budget an enlarged and modernized army. The money was used to make the military more mobile as automobiles, trucks, and airplanes replaced horses.
