Assuming that "x" refers to the distance from the leftmost point of the triangle to the perpendicular line, then from the Pythagorean theorem:
x^2 + (5.5)^2 = (10.4)^2
(10.4 is the radius of the circle and the hypotenuse of both right triangles))
x^2 = (10.4)^2 - (5.5)^2 =
108.16 - 30.25 =
77.91
x is the square root of 77.91 which is approximately 8.83.
